Nice try Donald Trump!

For much of the 2024 election, Donald Trump made a whole lot of vapid promises about lowering the price of gas, but the one plan where he specified how much he’d cut things by was a disaster that could quite possibly collapse the world economy if anyone were foolish enough to go along with it.

Among other terrible ideas he had was expanding offshore drilling which would only pollute the country further while not actually impacting the price of fuel. It would be nothing aside from yet another giveaway to oil companies while hurting a whole lot of Trump’s own political allies in the process.

The trouble is, President Biden beat Donald Trump to the punch, signing an executive order on Monday that would ban any further expansion of offshore drilling. Trump reacted with his typical ranting and bluster – the way he reacts to just about every other major loss he has – along with the wins.

You may think that Donald Trump can just reverse this as he’s threatening to do on social media, but it’s really not that simple. In Congress, he doesn’t have the support necessary to overturn such an order, and even if SCOTUS were to overturn it for him, it would be tied up in the courts for years – potentially not until Trump’s term is over, at which time an incoming Democratic president could withdraw the case. No wonder Donald Trump is in a mood – he’s as impotent as ever, and let’s keep it that way by electing Democrats down the board in the years to come.
