Even as Americans try to figure out what to do about the coronavirus outbreak in the United States, and numerous American politicians are now dealing with testing and quarantines themselves, Newt Gingrich finds himself in a whole different kind of coronavirus mess. Gingrich is stuck on lockdown in Italy.

Donald Trump appointed Calista Gingrich as the U.S. Ambassador to Italy, which means that she and her husband Newt Gingrich are currently residents of Italy. That entire nation is now on lockdown because the coronavirus is so out of control. Based on his history, Newt is one of the last people in American politics we should be taking at his word in general. But he’s sounding the alarm about the coronavirus situation in Italy, and he appears to be trying to get an important message out.

Gingrich has written a lengthy article for Newsweek in which he covers the specifics of what he’s seeing in Italy, and let’s just say that it isn’t good. You can read his article here.
