News vans reportedly gathering outside Washington DC courthouse where Jack Smith’s Trump 1/6 grand jury meets

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Jack Smith’s grand jury in Washington DC is about to criminally indict Donald Trump for crimes relating to January 6th. The clues are everywhere – including a target letter that Smith sent to Trump days ago. The only question has been when the indictment would come down.

This brings us to the reports this evening of a number of news vans gathering outside the DC courthouse where Jack Smith’s grand jury meets:

So what does this mean? In theory there are other reasons why they could be there. But the most obvious reason would be that they’re there in the expectation of Trump getting indicted. That’s obviously not going to happen on a Sunday night, when the court isn’t even open. But are they parked there now so they can be on the scene first thing tomorrow?

If so, why? Jack Smith doesn’t seem like the type to tip off the media about the day that an indictment is coming down. So do they have other sources? In any case, even if Trump does get indicted tomorrow, it’s not as if his surrender and arrest would also happen tomorrow, would it?

It is possible that Trump was indicted under seal last week and that he has been informed about it already, but chose not to publicly announce it this time. We did flag it as odd that he spent several days not making any social media posts of his own (only boilerplate stuff presumably posted by his staff), before finally exploding in a manic burst of rage this evening. So maybe he does know something that we don’t about what’s going to happen tomorrow.
