New York extends statute of limitations in Donald Trump’s crime spree

It keeps becoming more and more clear that the Manhattan District Attorney’s office is closing in on criminally indicting Donald Trump on a variety of financial charges. Trump has committed plenty of financial crimes within the statute of limitations, so he’s on track for prison. But what about the crimes he committed years ago?

Now it turns out the DA’s office is planning to use an existing section of New York law to extend the statute of limitations against Donald Trump, according to CNN. They’re allowed to do this because he spent a few years out of the state while he was in office.

Donald Trump spent his entire presidency almost never setting foot in New York, ostensibly because he was paranoid that he might get arrested if he did. The irony is that this paranoid decision may be what allows New York prosecutors to charge him with even more crimes, going back additional years.
