New twist in Donald Trump’s RFK Jr. nomination
It’s hard to say the word joke – because the polio virus spread a whole lot of death and suffering to go around for well over a century in not just America, but much of the world – before a vaccine was developed that has all but eradicated that disease. It’s also fairly accurate to say that the FDA run by RFK Jr. would likely cause an outbreak of polio, should they listen to his attorney’s advice about banning it – or forcing patients to pay for the vaccine out of pocket. The warning – conveyed sometimes as jokes in political cartoons and also by late night comedians – is actually having an effect – and it could doom Kennedy’s nomination to head Health and Human Services.
You know it’s working because not only has Trump rambled a lot of nonsense about the polio vaccine being effective, but it’s also caused Kennedy himself to backtrack and say that the vaccine has worked – and yet also left him open to trying to explain why his previous stance that the vaccine itself causes polio is somehow not wrong. Remember, if they’re explaining, they’re losing. The pushback is just getting started – and it’s far from the only insane belief that could lead to the needless deaths of thousands of people. Polio and measles – two highly contagious diseases with lots of terrible side effects could bounce back if this man is appointed and has his way – and this is what we need to be echoing repeatedly about the Kennedy nomination. Call your senator today – regardless of where they stand, to voice your concern.
