House Republican Jim Jordan is one of the most scandal plagued people in Congress, but he’s managed to get away with it for a bit because he’s mostly fallen off the radar. He’s not in a true leadership position, and no one has been watching his occasional public hearings.

When Jordan threw his hat in the ring for Speaker of the House, it was a bit surprising. Did he not realize that this was going to cause his litany of scandals to come front and center? Palmer Report predicted over the weekend that all of Jordan’s scandals would suddenly get renewed attention, and sure enough, that’s now happening.

Four victims from the Ohio State wrestling team are now emphatically stating that Jim Jordan shouldn’t be Speaker of the House, because he failed to protect them from a sexual predator. And NBC News is running a headline article about it. This is just what House Republicans need, a candidate for Speaker whose name keeps getting his name into headlines with the phrase “sexual predator.”

Of course this is the same Republican House that still hasn’t taken any action against Matt Gaetz, in spite of a DOJ criminal investigation into whether he is a sexual predator. But that’s what these House Republicans don’t get. They’re all just pandering to their own far right scumbag base, without realizing that things like the House majority are decided by mainstream voters closer to the middle.

It’s why House Republicans underperformed by thirty seats in 2022, in an election they were supposed to dominate. And it’s why House Republicans are on track to lose the majority in 2024. If they want to pick someone as scandal-plagued as Jim Jordan to be their Speaker heading into 2024, so be it. It’ll just make it that much easier for us to beat them.
