New trouble brewing between Donald Trump and Elon Musk
Thus far Donald Trump has been content to sit back and watch TV all day while Elon Musk operates as the de facto President of the United States. Even in his dementia riddled condition, it’s always been a question of how long Trump’s narcissism would allow him to tolerate it. Now Trump has made a rather odd social media post which could spell trouble for Musk.
Trump posted this on social media: “ELON IS DOING A GREAT JOB, BUT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE HIM GET MORE AGGRESSIVE. REMEMBER, WE HAVE A COUNTRY TO SAVE, BUT ULTIMATELY, TO MAKE GREATER THAN EVER BEFORE. MAGA!”
There are a few ways to read this. Some might interpret it as Trump simply giving Musk the greenlight to attack the government in even more aggressive fashion. But there seems to be an undertone here. Trump is essentially saying that Musk isn’t doing the job right; he’s being too timid.
Is this the angle that Trump is going to use for ousting Musk? Is he going to claim that Musk wasn’t taking the job seriously enough, and wasn’t destroying enough government institutions? That makes no sense, but it doesn’t have to. This is solely about Trump convincing himself of whatever he needs to believe. You have to wonder how much longer Musk lasts.
