New numbers say Donald Trump has become completely non-viable for 2024
New polling from the Associated Press reveals that 64% of Americans now say they won’t vote for Donald Trump in the 2024 general election. Other polling outlets may end up producing slightly different numbers. But even if you want to assume the margin of error and slightly shift this 64% number accordingly, it’s still devastating. It’s an automatic blowout loss for Trump if he’s the Republican nominee.
As I’ve been expecting, Trump’s mounting criminal indictments are indeed making him politically non-viable. It’s not difficult to figure out why. There are die-hards in Trump’s base who are so devoted to him that they’re willing to throw away their vote on a guy who’s heading for prison just to spite the system. But most persuadable voters outside of Trump’s base are never going to make an effort to go out and cast a pointless protest vote for a guy who’s in prison or on his way to prison.
The truly ugly part for Trump is that the current numbers are based solely on his indictments. His trials and convictions will make his status as a future prisoner even more obvious, and it’ll make his numbers even worse. If 64% of Americans won’t vote for him now that he’s been indicted, how much higher will that number go once he’s convicted?
Donald Trump is already non-viable for the general election. His indictments alone have already assured that. His trials and convictions will make him all the more non-viable. If Republican primary voters still want to nominate this guy, so be it.
