Rudy Giuliani goes berserk and ditches his new lawyer after just two weeks on the job

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Yesterday, former National Security Council official Fiona Hill testified to the House impeachment inquiry that her former boss John Bolton viewed Rudy Giuliani’s Ukraine extortion scheme as a “drug deal” and that Rudy himself as a “hand grenade” who was going to take them all down. This came amid the news that federal investigators already have Rudy’s bank records – which means his arrest is likely coming fairly soon.

In a sign of just how thoroughly this series of events has pushed Rudy Giuliani into Peak Rudy mode, he just parted ways with his criminal defense attorney Jon Sale, according to CNN. Here’s the thing. Rudy just hired the guy on October 1st, meaning he barely lasted two weeks. Are you kidding?

There may actually be good reason for this. Jon Sale was a Watergate attorney, and Rudy Giuliani clearly hired him to try to help guide him through the process of being subpoenaed by the House impeachment inquiry. But as Matthew Broderick recently reminded us, impeachment happens pretty fast, and now Rudy is suddenly looking at the far more dire prospect of being arrested and placed on criminal trial.

That requires a different kind of legal expertise, and accordingly, Rudy Giuliani is now changing out lawyers. The move might actually make sense, assuming Rudy decides to hire a legitimate trial attorney, and not some fictional character like Denny Crane. The real upshot here is that in just two weeks, Rudy’s situation has gone from bad to worse to worst.
