Nancy Pelosi twists the knife

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi won her battle with Donald Trump yesterday, forcing him to sign legislation reopening the government for twenty-one days without any funding for his wall, and leaving him with so much egg on his face, he’ll lack the leverage to even try any new shutdown antics three weeks from now. The minute Pelosi got Trump to sign on the dotted line, she immediately decided to twist the knife.

Nancy Pelosi knows that she’s left Donald Trump weakened, vulnerable, and in prime position to be ousted entirely. But instead of gloating over the fact that she won the shutdown/wall battle, Pelosi turned her attention to the fact that Trump’s oldest friend Roger Stone was arrested yesterday for conspiring with WikiLeaks to rig the election against Hillary Clinton, under instruction from the highest levels of the Trump campaign.

Right after Trump signed the continuing resolution, Pelosi issued this statement: “Roger Stone’s indictment makes clear there was a deliberate, coordinated effort by top Trump campaign officials to subvert the will of the American people during the 2016 Election. Donald Trump’s continued efforts to undermine Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation raises the questions: What does Putin have on Donald Trump, politically, personally or financially? Why has the Trump Administration continued to discuss pulling the U.S. out of NATO, which would be a massive victory for Putin?”

Donald Trump’s government shutdown was profoundly harmful to a large number of Americans, meaning Nancy Pelosi wouldn’t get anywhere if she gloated over winning the shutdown battle. Instead she’s steering the conversation precisely to where it needs to be: Trump and his campaign criminally conspired with foreign enemies of the United States to alter the outcome of the 2016 election in Trump’s favor, which means he wasn’t elected, and he isn’t the president of anything. It’s the groundwork for ousting him.
