We told you Nancy Pelosi had a plan to take Donald Trump down
For some time now, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi has been preaching patience when it comes to taking down Donald Trump. She’s explained that there was no point in bringing immediate articles of impeachment that the GOP Senate would just reject anyway. She’s talked of “self-impeachment.” She’s talked about putting Trump in prison. She’s taken a lot of crap because she hasn’t spelled out specifically how she was going to take Trump down. But now there’s no doubt whatsoever.
Pelosi and the House Democrats have been rather publicly working their way through the legal battles involved in obtaining impeachment testimony and evidence. But as Palmer Report tried to explain from the very start, impeachment is a slow and grinding process, and doesn’t involve instant magic wands or trap doors. Only Trump himself could hand the Democrats a magic wand, by getting so desperate to preemptively save himself – and so carelessly cocky in his approach – that he ended up truly self-impeaching. Well guess what?
It turns out Donald Trump really did try to conspire with the president of Ukraine to push a phony scandal about Joe Biden, in the hope of altering the outcome of the 2020 election. Trump did it in such blatant fashion, someone in his own regime felt compelled to rat him out and document all of it in a whistleblower report. It’s the kind of smoking gun that can end all this madness.
For this to happen, Donald Trump had to have come to believe that he could get away with anything. After his henchman Rudy Giuliani predictably botched the Ukraine conspiracy, Trump picked up the phone and tried to make it happen himself – in front of witnesses. In these instances, it’s not about what you “know” – it’s about what you can prove.
Nancy Pelosi lulled Donald Trump into getting just comfortable enough, he ended up putting his own fingerprints directly on an international criminal scheme that was originally designed to give him deniability. Trump just got caught red-handed trying to directly conspire with a foreign nation to rig the 2020 election, and offering policy favors in return. Pelosi knew what she was doing. She put Trump in position to take himself down – and he just did. Now she really can get rid of him, and lock him up.
