Knock off this idiotic nonsense about Nancy Pelosi
As the details of Donald Trump’s treasonous Ukraine plot continued to surface last night, numerous liberals and Democrats began seething with anger on social media. The trouble: a whole lot of them were inexplicably, idiotically, harmfully, aiming their rage at Nancy Pelosi of all people. It’s time for this kind of braindead foaming at the mouth to come to an end, because it’s causing real harm.
The mouth-foaming about Nancy Pelosi last night was based entirely around the bizarre false premise that she has a magic wand that can instantly oust Donald Trump from office, and that she’s simply refusing to wave it. Yes, that reflects an almost childlike naivete on the part of the people pushing it – but push it they did, to the point that “Madam Speaker” was the top trending topic on Twitter for most of the night, as the asinine attacks on Pelosi continued. And no, these weren’t bots or trolls in action; many of the attacks on Pelosi were coming from public figures who simply lost their minds.
Here are the indisputable facts: if Nancy Pelosi were to introduce articles of impeachment against Donald Trump right now, there is a literally 100% chance that it would result in no action against Trump by the Republican Senate. In turn, this would make it essentially impossible for the Democrats to bring articles of impeachment later on, even at a time when it might work. In other words, not only would articles of impeachment be a fool’s errand right now, it would guarantee that Trump would get to finish his term. It would be malpractice on Pelosi’s part. She’d be a complete idiot to bring articles right now.
But none of those facts appear to have any impact on the mouth foamers, who are now resorting to any braindead faux-logic they can get their hands on in the name of justifying their rage. They’re insisting that Nancy Pelosi has some kind of weird moral obligation to bring articles of impeachment right now, even though it would only serve to help Trump. They’re accusing Pelosi of secretly playing for Trump’s team. They’re willing to rely on anything that allows them to keep foaming indiscriminately at the mouth.
These folks have completely lost their minds, and they’re doing real harm to their own side by mistakenly attacking their own leader because she’s not waving a magic wand that doesn’t exist. These folks need to step back from social media for a moment, and not return until they get ahold of themselves. They’re so far off the deep end, they’re attacking their own side for hallucinatory reasons. We have enough problems without having to deal with a lunatic faction of the Resistance who’s sabotaging our own side in incoherently rabid fashion. Knock it off!
