Nancy Pelosi has forced the Trump regime to cut a deal
Last night the news came across the wire that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi was bypassing an increasingly whacked out Donald Trump, and she was instead negotiating emergency coronavirus response legislation directly with Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin. This morning Trump leaked that he wanted the talks broken off.
But now NBC News is reporting that Pelosi has indeed managed to force the Trump regime to cut a deal on coronavirus legislation. This is a big deal, because it means she’s managed to work around Donald Trump, as his handlers will presumably force him to sign off on it. And it means Pelosi has managed to work around Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who just took off for a three day weekend, and has presumably stopped caring entirely.
With Donald Trump now nothing more than a cartoon character, Mike Pence showing no desire to do anything other than prop up Trump’s delusional ego, and McConnell’s head not in the game, it’s not much of a stretch to argue that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi is now serving as the de facto President of the United States. Considering Trump and Pence were both exposed to coronavirus this past weekend… well, you just wonder.
