Nancy Pelosi drops the hammer

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi knew what she was doing when she decided to hang onto the articles of impeachment against Donald Trump. It prevented the Republican Senate from being able to quickly hold the sham trial and automatic acquittal they were hoping for, and it allowed enough time for developments to continue playing out. She struck gold when John Bolton announced today that he’s willing to testify under subpoena during the impeachment trial.

Nancy Pelosi jumped on the news, tweeting: “The President & Sen. McConnell have run out of excuses. They must allow key witnesses to testify, and produce the documents Trump has blocked, so Americans can see the facts for themselves. The Senate cannot be complicit in the President’s cover-up.” She then retweeted a lengthy video that Adam Schiff posted, going into detail about why Donald Trump is so guilty.

It’s not at all surprising to see Pelosi jumping on this. We have no way of knowing whether or not she had specific information about the timeframe in which John Bolton – who has a lucrative anti-Trump tell all book coming out in early 2020 – was going to end up being willing to testify. But we do know that Pelosi has had several irons in the fire since impeaching Trump, including court battles over his tax returns and the Mueller grand jury evidence.

Nancy Pelosi is far from being done with impeachment. Today was a reminder that she still has all kinds of avenues for continuing to stick it to Donald Trump. We’ll see what else she has up her sleeve.
