Donald Trump just gave away that there are tapes of him using the N-word
I’ll admit, it took me a minute to work my way through Donald Trump’s twisted and absurd logic when it came to his late night meltdown tonight. After all, this is Trump-speak we’re talking about here. But now that I’ve had a chance to parse the entire thing, there’s no escaping the only logical interpretation of his words: Trump just gave away that there really are tapes of him using the N-word on the set of the Apprentice.
Omarosa has released multiple secret recordings this week from inside the White House. She’s also claiming in her book that she’s heard from multiple sources that there are tapes of Trump using the racial slur in question. While she was a contestant on multiple seasons of the Apprentice, she’s not claiming to have these tapes in her possession. Nonetheless, Trump is going off tonight about the matter. It’s not that he’s denying it; it’s how he’s denying it.
Here’s what Trump tweeted about the producer of the Apprentice: “Mark Burnett called to say that there are NO TAPES of the Apprentice where I used such a terrible and disgusting word as attributed by Wacky and Deranged Omarosa.” No one believes this phone call actually happened. But even if it did, that doesn’t matter. If Trump hadn’t used the N-word on the set of the Apprentice, he wouldn’t need someone else to inform him that there are no tapes of it; he’d know there were no tapes of it.
This would be like an accused bank robber saying “The bank manager called to say that there are no tapes of me robbing the bank.” It’s something you’d only say if you had actually robbed the bank, and there were tapes of you doing it. So now we know that such tapes do exist. So thank you, Donald Trump, for unwittingly confirming that tapes of you using the N-word really do exist. That just made everyone’s job easier when it comes to exposing these tapes.
