Donald Trump’s “My Pillow” stunt should be the absolute last straw

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

As usual, Donald Trump used his press conference today to announce false and misleading information about the coronavirus crisis, pat himself on the back for imaginary things, and blame others for his own failures. But then he took things in a whole new and bizarre direction.

These press conferences shouldn’t be on live television simply because of how dangerously inaccurate they are. But now they’ve turned into something else. Donald Trump put his idiot friend, the “My Pillow” guy, on stage during the press conference in what was essentially a free infomercial for the guy’s product. That’s how far off the rails these daily debacles have become.

If MSNBC and CNN aren’t willing to pull the plug on these Trump press conferences for public health and safety reasons, they should pull the plug on the grounds that these aren’t even press conferences. They’re part campaign rally, and part informercial for Trump’s friends. It’s time to consider boycotting MSNBC and CNN until they stop airing this garbage.
