MSNBC temporarily pulls the plug on Donald Trump’s disastrous press conference
Just how dangerously deranged was Donald Trump’s latest coronavirus press conference today? Trump opened it by admitting that one unnamed White House reporter is now suspected of having the coronavirus, and that the number of reporters in attendance was down today as a result. Trump gave out even more dangerously false medical advice. Bill Barr showed up and babbled incoherently. Dr. Fauci wasn’t even there.
It raised the question, again, of why the TV news networks are broadcasting these harmful press conferences live. Mercifully, after the whole thing started to go off the rails, MSNBC pulled the plug. Host Ari Melber cut away from the nonsense, and proceeded to start interviewing a guest instead.
MSNBC did cut back to the press conference once it reached the point where reporters were allowed to ask Trump questions, presumably under the premise that it’s the part where Trump gets fact checked by the people in the room. We think they shouldn’t be airing any of this garbage live at all. But at least we’ve now reached the point where the networks are at least partially pulling the plug on these increasingly disastrous debacles.
