More questions surface about Donald Trump’s supposed big fundraiser

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. After President Joe Biden held a record setting $25 million fundraiser, Donald Trump began melting down jealously on social media. Now he’s claiming tonight that he’s raised $50.5 million at a closed door fundraiser of his own. But serious questions are emerging about the legitimacy of this number.

First of all, Trump is bragging that he raised more than twice as much as Biden. Hmm. How convenient, given that $50.5 million is the lowest dollar amount (in halves of millions) that someone could raise and still be able to say that it’s more than twice as much as $25 million. It almost feels as if the number was pulled out of thin air, specifically so Trump could have his talking point.

Then there are the various campaign experts who are pointing out on social media that, because Trump held this fundraiser right at the beginning of the second quarter, it’ll be months before the actual numbers come out. In other words Trump will be able to get his headlines about supposedly out-fundraising Biden, and by the time anyone sees the real numbers, everyone will have forgotten about the whole thing anyway. How convenient.
