More blowback against Kevin McCarthy

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Kevin McCarthy is not out of the woods. On the contrary, McCarthy is lost there and his twisting in the wind is only getting worse. The Editorial Board of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch has come out with a blistering editorial piece, and it excoriates the cowardly Republican. The piece notes that in “the immediate aftermath” of the January 6 insurrection, McCarthy was angry. And he was angry at Trump.

The piece goes on to label McCarthy a “Trump lapdog” who “lies to the public.” They call McCarthy’s actions “a study in political cravenness and cowardice.” And they suggest McCarthy resign The piece ends with these powerful words: “It’s difficult to imagine anyone less worthy to serve in the House, let alone lead it.”

This is a powerful piece, and it perfectly sums up McCarthy. And there will be more like it, I am sure. McCarthy has seemingly done what few politicians EVER do — he’s alienated BOTH sides. Congratulations Kevin. Think about it. With his actions, McCarthy not only shows what a passive and frightened supplicant he is, but he also shows how LITTLE the events of January 6 have impacted him.

Normal people — people like you, dear readers, and myself — watched the events of January 6 with horror. Our hearts were ablaze with fury and anguish. Our eyes were weeping willows seeing the hate and the damage and the death.

Not Kevin, though — at least not for long. McCarthy was seemingly able to shrug off all the pain of that brutal day. And he seemed to have no problem with making nice to the leader — the lead instigator — the COWARD of all cowards of January 6 — Donald Trump. Kevin McCarthy must resign. He will not, of course. But he has doomed his career and his legacy.

He will go down in history as a weakling — a Benedict Arnold of politics. He will be remembered as a lightweight who abandoned the magnificence of America and everything she stands for to kiss the ring of a craven psychopath. No, history will not remember McCarthy well.
