Here’s the part where Donald Trump goes even more berserk
It has long been known that Russian hackers attempted to access voter databases in many states in the lead up to the 2016 presidential election. While there has yet to be any concrete evidence that votes were changed, new findings of how far the Russians were able to go in their efforts to help Donald Trump steal the election are coming out all the time. In the newly released Senate Intelligence Committee report on Russian cyberattacks on digital U.S. voting systems, it was determined that Russia did ultimately reach the point of being able to alter or delete registration data.
We already know of the Cambridge Analytica scheme to use stolen Facebook user data to directly target voters in an effort to suppress votes in key swing states. Now we know for sure that they also had an even more surefire play to suppress votes – making eligible voters incapable of casting their vote through changing the voter database. Simply changing someone’s name or address, or completely deleting them from the database altogether, could ensure that people were prevented from voting.
To better prepare the country for future elections, Congress previously allocated $120 million to fight such Russian attacks in the future. It’s been reported that previous Secretary of State Rex Tillerson spent exactly zero of those dollars to better prepare the country for coming elections. We also know through Congressional testimony that Trump has not shown any interest, or directed anyone with such abilities, to do a single thing to make America ready for future attacks. Former FBI Director James Comey testified that Trump made zero inquiries about how to stop such attacks as he only seemed interested in what the FBI knew about Trump’s own actions in regards to his conspiracy with Russia to steal the election.
Donald Trump is clearly only concerned with ensuring that future elections are just as easy, or even easier, for Russia to influence in his benefit. As more of these reports are released it should reassure Americans because if the public is aware of such actions, Special Counsel Robert Mueller is sure to have had this information for months. Trump has likely come to the conclusion that he cannot escape prosecution, but he will likely act out even more unhinged as the walls close in around him.
