Well, folks, Eric Adams’s worst nightmare has come true! Andrew Cuomo has entered the NY Mayor’s race. We did know this was coming, and Adams likely did, too. Cuomo announced his run on Saturday, throwing NY politics into a tailspin and smashing the dreams of a Trump-controlled current Mayor who now looks at his chances—sees that they’re zilch—and hopefully decides not to run again.

In his campaign announcement video, Cuomo said New York is a city in crisis. Cuomo addressed the turbulent end of his last role, which was as NY Governor, saying he didn’t do everything right and made mistakes but learned from them. I want to be clear: others are running, too, so this is still anyone’s race — except for Eric Adams. Why do I say that?

Okay — picture a bunch of boats on a warm and breezy summer afternoon. There are several average-sized boards standing at attention. There are even a few determined paddle boats. Flanking them is a sleek and elegant yacht that appears to be in front of the pack. That’d be Cuomo. And bringing up the rear is a tiny, tiny dinghy.

This dingy contains one lone person, crying out to be heard, but maybe—I don’t know—maybe SIX PERCENT or so, of the bystanders even bother to look twice at the pitiful dinghy; see what I mean? Adams doesn’t have a chance in hell. He should really just announce that he’s not running. In the meantime, my friends — the race is on! Hopefully WITHOUT Eric Adams.
