Mitt Romney lashes out at Republican Party

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Well, well, well. It appears the kitten has claws after all. Who would have thunk it? Utah Senator Mitt Romney spoke on CNN’s “State of the Union.” And he was pretty pissed at some of his fellow Republicans. This must be why Romney all but called them traitors. Referring to the “Putin wing” of the Republican party Romney had the following to say:

“But how could anybody — how anybody in this country, which loves freedom — can side with Vladimir Putin — which is an oppressor, a dictator, he kills people, he imprisons his political opponents, he has been an adversary of America at every chance he’s had — it’s almost unthinkable to me. It’s almost treasonous.”

Good statement, Senator Romney. I beg to disagree on one thing, though. It’s not ALMOST treasonous. It IS treasonous. Please don’t get me wrong. I don’t like Romney. However, I don’t think Romney is an insurrectionist. I do, though, think he’s naive. Because if you look at his statement and mentally dissect it, he could use the exact words he uses to describe Putin to describe the Putin wing of his own party.

Let’s break this down, shall we? Romney refers to Putin as hating freedom. I’d say the same for the Maga crowd. This is why they banish books, they want to take the power of choice from women, and many wanted to hang the Vice-President.

“He imprisons his political opponents.”

Right you are, Mitt. Now think about a typical Trump rally.

“Lock her up,” they cry.

“He has been an adversary to America.”

Right again, Mittens! So have many in your party who seek to expel people like Liz Cheney, who they see as traitors. So while I applaud Romney’s words, they don’t mean anything unless he backs them up with action — that action is leaving the Republican party.

It would be a clear message to them. If Romney and others others such as Lisa Murkowski would do this that would show real courage and love of country. They do not have to become Democrats. They could caucus as independents.

Yet we don’t see this happening. And we likely won’t. It is easy to use forceful words. It’s much harder to engage in courageous ACTIONS. Perhaps the boldness of the Ukrainians could teach Romney something if only he’d listen.
