Mitt Romney has had it up to here

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Well, well, well. Turns out the kitten DOES have claws — and they’re big ones. Republican Senator Mitt Romney is retiring, as you know, at the end of his term. He will not seek reelection, probably because most Republicans can’t stand him, because occasionally he stood up to Trump.

But Romney has a new book coming out, and man, does he get catty in this book! Excerpts have been released. And one thing they show us? Mitt really, really doesn’t like his Republican colleagues (with good reason.)

It’s like a high school clique where one member goes rogue and decides to spill about what he thinks. And what Romney appears to feel is they ALL suck. And who knew Romney had a sense of humor? I sure didn’t. But let’s review a few of these comments because they are amusing (and accurate.)

On DeSantis — “He looks like he’s got a toothache.” He also says there is no warmth about DeSantis.

Oh, Senator JD Vance — “I don’t know that I can disrespect someone more.”

I felt that way too. If ever there was a GOP Trump ass-kisser it’s Vance, who once labeled Trump Hitler before deciding he loves him.

Newt Gingrich — “a smug know-it-all.” And “smarmy.” Newt’s the KING of smarm.

Mike Huckabee and this is my favorite — “a caricature of a for- profit preacher.”

Bobby Jindal (talk about resurrecting the past) — a “twit.”

Ted Cruz — “Scary.” Demagogue.” That’s complimentary compared to what others have called Cruz.

Rick Perry of Texas — “Republicans must realize that we have to have someone who can complete a sentence.”

Rick Santorum — Romney labeled him with the three S’S. “Sanctimonious, severe, and strange.”

Pence — “No one had been more vocal, more willing to smile when he saw absurdities, more willing to ascribe God’s will to ungodly things.”

Ouch! I might have to read that book. I do wish Romney had been able to say this before he announced his retirement, but I guess that’s too much to hope for, for any republican.
