Mitch McConnell whines and cries like a baby after caving to Chuck Schumer
When Mitch McConnell formally caved to Chuck Schumer last night, it ensured that Senate Democrats will be able to pass just about any legislation they want. They can partially or fully kill the filibuster at any time, meaning Republicans will be unlikely to even try to use it – and reconciliation will also work as needed.
At the time, Palmer Report pointed out that Mitch McConnell only had one trick left in his bag: his old tired game of trying to falsely claim the high road while whining and crying about how the Democrats are supposedly out of line.
This evening Mitch McConnell proved us right by posting this laughably pitiful tweet, apparently with a straight face: “Today, I made clear that if Democrats ever attack the key Senate rules, it would drain the consent and comity out of the institution. A scorched-earth Senate would hardly be able to function. It wouldn’t be a progressive’s dream. It would be a nightmare. I guarantee it.”
Well okay then. We’ll consider ourselves sufficiently warned. Wait, where’s the sarcasm font? These next few years will be particularly productive for American progress, specifically because bad faith actors like McConnell will be largely powerless. He can whine all he wants. He can’t stop us.
