Mitch McConnell whines and complains because he’s not getting his way on this one

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Somewhere out in the USA, as people go about their daily business, a turtle huddles in misery. This turtle is crafty, to be sure, but even shrewd turtles know when they’re helpless. Most of them then shuttle away, onto bigger and better challenges. But most of them aren’t Mitch McConnell.

Moscow Mitch (out of options, insurrection party, so sorry, Kentucky) is not a happy turtle these days. This is because he’s optionless. The Democrats are going to fill a Supreme Court seat, and there isn’t much the Moscow turtle can do to stop things.

But in the spirit of corrupt Republicans, this doesn’t mean he would admit that. Not Mitch. So what he DID do is to make a statement — and he gave much away in the process.

“The American people elected a Senate that is evenly split at 50-50,” the turtle croaked.

“To the degree that President Biden received a mandate, it was to govern from the middle, steward our institutions and unite America.”

“The President must not outsource this important decision to the radical left,” the turtle went on insanely.”

“The American people deserve a nominee with demonstrated reverence for the written text of our laws and our constitution.”

No applause was heard. Mitch actually gave away a great deal with these nonsensical words. He showed his hand. He showed he has no control — no power — and has been reduced to a tired turtle saying the same tired Republican talking points that seem to run on a continuous loop.

Who might Mitch recommend to “unite America?” I didn’t see him worried about that with Trump’s three Justices. Not even a peep from the turtle was heard then.

The bottom line is that the turtle is powerless for the first time in a while. And he knows it. President Biden will nominate who he wants and this lady will be the next Supreme Court Justice. As for Turtle Mitch — perhaps he should go back in his shell and sit this one out.
