Mitch McConnell just stepped in it

Mitch McConnell has survived this long as an openly corrupt politician because he’s always had a sense of precisely what he could and could not get away with. But now that Donald Trump’s toxic unpopularity is threatening to cost McConnell the Senate, McConnell is overreaching – and it’s backfiring on him.

McConnell knew what he was doing when he attacked President Obama with barely veiled code words: he was looking to fire up Trump’s racist base. Nothing new here. But then McConnell signed on to the Trump regime’s false claim that the Obama administration didn’t leave it a pandemic playbook. That lie isn’t going to work, because there are literally photos of the Obama pandemic playbook on social media.

So now Mitch McConnell has had to go on Fox News and admit he was wrong about the Obama pandemic playbook:

It’s not clear what Mitch McConnell thinks his strategy is here. He’s getting so desperate and sloppy, he’s attaching himself to the kinds of lies that even Fox News isn’t willing to back him up on.
