Mitch McConnell gets slam dunked

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

This weekend, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell broke his shoulder, which was surely a painful affair for him. Today, McConnell got hit with something that he may ultimately find more painful: he’s being run ragged around the political football field by a rookie who’s better at this than he is.

It all started when Mitch McConnell used his @Team_Mitch account on Twitter, which is his secondary account but still an official one, to tweet images of the “death” of his 2020 Democratic opponent Amy McGrath on election day. This was posted shortly after the El Paso mass shooting, and even if McConnell and his handlers weren’t aware of the shooting at the time, they certainly haven’t deleted the offensive imagery since. But now things have taken an arguably even uglier turn.

Several young men wearing “Team Mitch” t-shirts were photographed assaulting and molesting a cardboard cutout of Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The photo has since gone viral. This prompted AOC to fire back with “Hey [Mitch McConnell] – these young men look like they work for you. Just wanted to clarify: are you paying for young men to practice groping & choking members of Congress w/ your payroll, or is this just the standard culture of #TeamMitch?”

At this point the #TeamMitch hashtag exploded, and began trending atop Twitter for several hours, as everyone piled on about the inappropriateness of it all. We all saw Mitch McConnell throw a tantrum on the Senate floor last week after “Moscow Mitch” began trending. At this point, a new negative hashtag about McConnell begins trending every other day. McConnell is on the political ropes. It’s time for him to resign.
