Donald Trump just made his dumbest mistake yet

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

On Sunday, Palmer Report pointed out that even if Donald Trump did have a potential sympathy bump available to him in the polls, he blew it by trying to cover up the timing of his coronavirus diagnosis and severity of his illness. Trump seemingly took this as a challenge, because he then found a way to blow it even worse.

In what might go down as the dumbest mistake any U.S. President has ever made, and certainly the dumbest mistake any has made while actively seeking reelection, Donald Trump ordered the Secret Service to take him on a joyride around the block outside Walter Reed Medical Center. Trump directly put the lives of these agents at risk, just so he could be cheered up a bit by seeing the fawning idiots on the sidewalk cheering him on.

This moment – this narcissistically tone deaf and psychotically destructive moment – will serve to remind the majority of Americans why they hate this guy to begin with. It’ll serve as added motivation to show up and vote him out. It’ll make things easy for voters who are still on the fence. And it’ll ensure that the narrative in the coming days is not about whether Trump deserves pity for being ill, but how much scorn Trump deserves for putting even more lives in danger.
