This morning the Senate Republicans got the first crack at examining the new FBI report on Brett Kavanaugh, and they promptly declared that the report didn’t detail even so much as a “hint” of misconduct on Kavanaugh’s part. To the surprise of no one, it turns out the Republicans are flat out lying about the contents of the Report – and influential Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein just confirmed as much.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley claimed today that the FBI report on Brett Kavanaugh was clean, but this seemed to be contradicted by the extreme lengths they were going to in order to prevent the contents of the report from becoming public. But once Dianne Feinstein got a look at the report, she tweeted this in response:

“Republicans have declared there wasn’t a ‘hint’ of misconduct. Based on our briefing & review of documents, despite a clearly restricted investigation, that IS NOT true. Our previous concerns about Judge Kavanaugh’s truthfulness have also not been assuaged by this investigation.” In other words, even this severely crippled investigation has exposed that Kavanaugh has done things wrong.

So precisely what “misconduct” on the part of Brett Kavanaugh has been documented in this report? We’ll soon find out, as the Senate Democrats are surely going to reveal it to the public at the opportune time. It appears that GOP Senator Jeff Flake was less than comforted by what he read in the FBI report, as his first move was to reach out to Democratic Senator Chris Coons, who originally talked him into calling for the investigation in the first place.
