Donald Trump suddenly has a huge Milwaukee Bucks NBA problem

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

After the police shot a black man in the back seven times in Wisconsin this week, the Milwaukee Bucks NBA team made the decision today to boycott their own playoff game. In response, the opposing team, the Orlando Magic, also walked off the court in solidarity instead of trying to take the win by forfeit. Now the OKC Thunder and Houston Rockets have also decided to boycott their game tonight, meaning there is no NBA today – and no word on tomorrow.

This is a huge deal, and an unprecedented development with widespread ramifications for sports, race relations, police reform, gun reform, and society at large. It’s also a huge problem for Donald Trump. He keeps making the argument that racist violence is overblown, that the police don’t need reform, and that the protests against racism are the work of bad actors.

But now the stars of the NBA are using their clout to make clear that these issues are indeed very real – and they’re forcing white sports fans around the nation to sit up and take notice. Donald Trump, who isn’t exactly known for his tact or nuance, will have a difficult time trying to figure out how to navigate this one. This nation can’t begin to heal until Trump is gone, and this boycott will help drive this point home to at least some people watching at home.
