Military veteran throws his Trump yard sign in the trash
Even before last night’s bombshell revelations about what Donald Trump really thinks of U.S. military personnel, he was already losing to Joe Biden by a few points among active duty military – a reminder of just how much he’s done to alienate military types.
But Trump has been counting on the votes of older military veterans in 2020, and anecdotally at least, he may now have a problem. After the news broke last night that Trump thinks U.S. soldiers who die at war are “losers” and “suckers,” this tweet went viral:
Are other military veterans responding to the news in the same way that this guy’s neighbor did? We’ll have to wait for some new polling to get a handle on whether this incident ends up costing Donald Trump a significant number of veterans’ votes. But keep in mind that even a slight dip in a crucial demographic can spell trouble for a candidate who’s already behind in the race overall.
