Donald Trump humiliates himself with completely asinine letter to U.S. military personnel

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

This month, new polling suggested that Donald Trump’s support among U.S. military personnel is startlingly low for a Republican president. This is likely due to a combination of factors, including Trump’s attacks on John McCain’s prisoner of war status, and the manner in which Trump’s own former Generals have turned against him.

Trump appears to be trying to turn things around when it comes to the military’s view of him. He tweeted an open letter to all U.S. military personnel on Friday evening, which appropriately started off by praising their “selfless service” and “noble sacrifice.” But Trump then quickly began making misleading claims about military pay raises and such. Then things got really weird.

For instance, by the third paragraph, Trump begins bragging about the stock market. Keep in mind that this is a letter specifically addressed to active duty military personnel. Does he have any understanding of their pay scale? Most troops aren’t getting paid enough to have money invested in the stock market.

This guy Donald Trump couldn’t be any more out of touch with the troops. This letter is just humiliatingly tone-deaf. Then again, he is a five-time draft dodger who thinks it’s appropriate to mock a prisoner of war for having gotten caught. He recently accused Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman of being a spy. This week Trump also suggested that recently deceased Congressman John Dingell, a World War II veteran, is currently in Hell. No wonder Trump is seeing a decline in his poll numbers with the troops. The guy just doesn’t get it.
