Rudy Giuliani throws Mike Pompeo under the bus as Donald Trump’s treason plot falls to pieces
At this point it’s not a question of whether Donald Trump is going down for his Ukraine treason plot. It’s only a question of how he’s going down, and who all is going with him. Trump appears to have dragged so many people into his criminal plot, they’re now beginning to throw each other under the bus in the name of trying to protect themselves.
This whole scandal started when Donald Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani went to Ukraine to try to conspire with politicians there to manufacture a phony scandal about Joe Biden, in the hope of altering the outcome of the 2020 election. Rudy blew it badly, to the point that it quickly became a Donald Trump scandal in the media. Trump ended up calling the president of Ukraine himself and repeatedly urging him to work with Rudy on the plot.
The thing is, if Rudy Giuliani originally initiated this Ukraine plot on his own, then he’s guilty of conspiracy against the United States, and he’ll never get out of prison. His only hope of reduced criminal culpability is if he can demonstrate that from the very start, he was acting on behalf of the United States government. So last night Rudy went on Fox News and asserted that it was the State Department who asked him to travel to Ukraine on an official mission. If this is the case, and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo signed off on this, then he’s also going to prison.
We have no idea who to believe, as these people are all frequent liars. But Mike Pompeo’s State Department did promise an extra $141 million to Ukraine, in addition to the original $250 million, just as it was becoming clear that the whistleblower report was going to surface and that Ukraine’s silence would be beneficial to Trump. In any case, Rudy Giuliani just signaled that Pompeo is knee deep in this treason plot. We’re going to see more of this, as everyone involved tries to paint someone else as having been the true ringleader.
