New twist in Mike Pence’s coronavirus scandal

Mike Pence has been directly exposed to the coronavirus by his chief of staff, his body man, and others on his staff. Pence has tested negative, but that doesn’t tell us anything, because infected people can take up to 14 days to finally test positive.

Pence is hitting the campaign trail this afternoon, potentially exposing his own supporters to the coronavirus. This is both evil and stupid. If Pence does get sick and/or test positive later, it’ll merely generate more ugly headlines ahead of election day. And of course if Pence gets his own supporters sick, it could make it harder for them to vote. But now there’s a new twist.

NBC News just reported that Mike Pence has changed his mind and will not attend today’s Senate confirmation vote for Amy Coney Barrett. This comes after Senate Democrats pointed out how reckless it would be for him to attend while he should be quarantining instead.

So Pence is willing to back down and not risk exposing the Senate to coronavirus, but he’s still willing to risk exposing his own supporters? This is getting ridiculous. There’s also no gain here. The relative handful of votes that Pence might drum up with his rallies is negligible in comparison to the negative headlines he’s getting for being on the trail. But then the Trump regime never does know how to do anything in a smart way.
