Mike Pence whines and cries like a baby
Mike Pence is in a tough spot, in the sense that he has to decide whether or not to jump up and down like an idiot for a few hours on Wednesday before he ultimately acknowledges that the 2020 election results have been read aloud. He has absolutely no ability to alter the outcome, or to delay certification beyond Wednesday. But he does have to decide how much of a fool to make of himself for Trump’s benefit.
Apparently, Pence is very unhappy about having been backed into this no-win corner. After all, Pence would love to keep alive his delusional fantasy that he’s somehow going to successfully run for President in 2024, even though he’s just as toxically unpopular as Trump is, and even Trump’s base doesn’t seem to like him much these days.
Pence is now leaking to the New York Times about how unhappy he is, and trying to paint himself as some kind of hapless victim who can’t win for trying. It’s not clear why Pence seems to think that doing so will gain him any sympathy from anyone. But it’s fun to watch him squirming and crying like this.
