Mike Pence is in even deeper Ukraine treason trouble than we thought
Yesterday we brought you the story of how Mike Pence was caught up, at least on some level, in Donald Trump’s Ukraine treason scandal. Even as the Trump regime was busy scrambling to bury the whistleblower report that documented Trump’s attempt at conspiring with the president of Ukraine to rig the 2020 election, Pence was on the phone with the president of Ukraine on Wednesday. It turns out it’s even uglier for Pence.
Remember when Donald Trump was supposed to attend a World War II event in Poland a few weeks ago? He canceled at the last minute so he could stay home and play golf while botching the hurricane. Trump sent Mike Pence to Poland in his place, which at the time seemed like mere laziness. But Trump had a meeting scheduled in Poland with Ukraine president Zelensky, and so Pence ended up taking that meeting instead.
Now that we all have a better understanding of the context of recent interactions between the Trump regime and Ukraine, that meeting is being revisited. Washington Post reporter Robert Costa has posted a lengthy thread documenting the Pence-Ukraine meeting. It starts off like this: “VP Pence met with Ukraine’s Zelensky a few weeks ago in Poland, sitting in for Pres. Trump, who couldn’t make the trip. The meeting was in a windowless hotel room. Bolton sat silent, Sec. Perry there, too, as pool reporters were brought [in]. Zelensky kept bouncing his knees.”
In other words, Mike Pence was saying things to the president of Ukraine that made him nervous, and the recently fired John Bolton was a witness. It’s difficult to imagine that this exchange didn’t involve the Trump regime’s ongoing effort to pressure Zelensky into helping to manufacture and promote a fake Joe Biden scandal. Pence is in even deeper than we thought.
