Mike Pence is finally talking about the 25th Amendment
How much pressure is Mike Pence facing to invoke the 25th Amendment? The House of Representatives is moving forward not only with impeachment, but with wild legislation to try to seize 25th Amendment powers for itself, if Pence doesn’t soon make a move. Finally, Pence is at least talking about doing so.
Mike Pence is now leaking to CNN that he hasn’t ruled out the 25th Amendment, and he wants to keep it in his pocket in case Trump becomes “more unstable.” This is a terrible answer. How many more domestic terrorist attacks does Trump have to incite before he becomes “too” unstable for Pence’s tastes?
But at least Pence now realizes that he’s so thoroughly backed into a corner, he has to at least talk about the 25th Amendment. It’s an unsatisfactory step forward, but a step forward nonetheless. Pence knows he’s boxing himself in by saying this kind of thing, because now there will be even more pressure on him to go through with it.
