Mike Pence just totally stepped in it

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It’s one thing for the Trump regime to falsely generically claim that the coronavirus is under control and on its way out. It’s another thing for the Trump regime to use these generic claims as a basis for justifying holding a campaign rally in Tulsa this upcoming weekend. But the one thing you don’t do is get into specific and detailed lies as part of that justification because then you give the media an easy opportunity to pick you apart.

Unfortunately for Mike Pence, that’s what he just did. While in front of the TV cameras today, Pence falsely claimed that Oklahoma has “flattened the curve” and that the number of cases has “declined precipitously.” This specific false claim is so easy to disprove. Recent testing numbers make clear that Oklahoma’s coronavirus numbers are currently skyrocketing, with Tulsa in particular becoming a hotspot, to the point that the local health director is calling for the rally to be called off.

It’s not just that Mike Pence lied; he and the Trump regime do that all the time. But there’s a reason you keep your lies broad when you’re trying to paint a false overall big picture. You want to stick to generic lies that are hard to pin down, while your adversaries get lost in the details while trying to disprove you. Pence got way too specific by flat out lying about the number of new cases in Oklahoma right now. He just stepped in it.
