Mike Pence is in deep impeachment trouble
The Speaker of the House announced Donald Trump’s impeachment on Tuesday, and the underlying scandal is ugly enough that it could force Trump to cut some kind of resignation plea deal. So you’d think that the happiest guy in the world would be Mike Pence, who could be on the verge of inheriting the presidency – at least for a little while – by default. The trouble is that this Trump Ukraine scandal is also very much a Pence Ukraine scandal.
Over the weekend, Palmer Report explained that Mike Pence inserted himself into Donald Trump’s Ukraine plot in at least a few different ways. When Trump canceled his trip to Poland at the last minute, Pence went in his place – and Pence ended up taking Trump’s meeting with the president of Ukraine. One reporter who observed (but didn’t hear) the conversation has described how visibly nervous the president of Ukraine was at whatever Pence was telling him.
Then we learned that, even as the Trump regime was desperately trying to suppress the whistleblower report about the Ukraine scandal, Mike Pence hopped on the phone with the president of Ukraine for unknown reasons. Finally, some digging through earlier transcripts has revealed that Pence was indeed pushing Trump’s plot on Ukraine.
It’s not clear if Mike Pence was in on Donald Trump’s Ukraine plot to begin with, or if Pence jumped in to try to cover the whole thing up and prevent it from becoming public. Either way, Pence has his hands dirty in a treason plot, or the coverup up a treason plot. Trump’s impeachment is going to bring all of the ugly details to the surface – and that means Mike Pence is going to get tagged with this scandal. No way does he survive this.
