That escalated quickly: Mike Pence has been quarantined [Updated]
It’s been two days since Mike Pence’s press secretary Katie Miller tested positive for coronavirus. This has raised a number of questions about why Pence hasn’t been self-quarantining. He reportedly tested negative, but you can have coronavirus and still test negative if you’re asymptomatic or pre symptomatic.
We’re not sure what’s changed, but as of this evening, someone in the White House is letting it be known that Mike Pence is in quarantine after all. It’s apparently serious enough that Pence skipped a meeting with Trump and top military officials as part of his quarantine.
When you consider that Mike Pence has been directly exposed to coronavirus, going into quarantine is the right thing to do. It does however raise questions about why it took two days to be confirmed. Was Pence not initially in quarantine, or has he been in quarantine all along and the Trump regime didn’t want anyone to know? Update, 7:14pm: now the Trump regime is insisting Pence somehow hasn’t been quarantined.
This in turn raises further questions about why Donald Trump is not in quarantine. Trump’s personal valet has tested positive for coronavirus, meaning Trump has been exposed just as surely as Pence has been exposed. At this point anyone coming into contact with Donald Trump is putting their life at risk. As the 2020 election moves forward, Trump’s reckless and selfish refusal to quarantine needs to be exposed for the major scandal that it is.
