While Donald Trump makes a point of reminding us every day that he’s a deranged monster, Mike Pence likes to put on a calm and steady demeanor while he’s carrying out his psychopathy. For instance, if you’ve been wondering why CNN has been playing gymnastics when it comes to figuring out how to selectively air Trump’s press conferences lately, it’s because Pence has been trying to blackmail the network over it.

CNN refused to air the first twenty minutes of Donald Trump’s misinformation-fest yesterday, before finally relenting and airing the bulk of the rest of it. It’s been clear that CNN has been trying to split the difference between airing and not airing these briefings, but it wasn’t entirely clear why – until now.

CNN revealed today that Mike Pence has been threatening to block anyone on the Trump coronavirus team from giving interviews to the network unless it airs Donald Trump’s briefings. That’s right, Trump is just the frontman for this deranged carnival of pandemic villains that you see on TV each day; Pence is the one pulling the evil strings.
