Mike Pence finally comes out of hiding and it’s a disaster

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

After Mike Pence appeared to have pink eye during the VP debate and then blew off his subsequent campaign events and disappeared, everyone just assumed he had coronavirus. Maybe he still does. In any case, Pence finally came out of hiding today and held a rally in Florida, and let’s just say it wasn’t a good look.

Mike Pence’s eye wasn’t red today, and a fly didn’t land on his head, but those were about the only things that went well for him when he held a campaign rally at The Villages in Florida, a massive retirement community. The Villages is traditionally overwhelmingly Republican, and has been known for its pro-Trump golf cart parades. But Pence was greeted with hundreds of pro-Biden golf carts, in a reminder that Trump has begun losing the senior citizen vote.

But the real trouble for Mike Pence may be that, by all accounts, most of the people who showed up for his rally speech didn’t wear masks and didn’t practice social distancing. Whether Pence has coronavirus or not, it’s nearly a given that someone in his crowd did today. This means there will likely be a coronavirus outbreak among Trump supporters at The Villages in a week or two, making for a terribly ugly news story for Trump heading into election day. What a disaster.
