Donald Trump goes berserk, launches ugly attack on Mike Pence aide who testified against him

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Yesterday the House impeachment inquiry released the closed door testimony transcript from Mike Pence aide Jennifer Williams, who listened in on Donald Trump’s fateful phone call with the President of Ukraine. Williams didn’t just testify about what she heard in the phone call; she made a point of testifying that in her opinion, Trump was guilty of wrongdoing.

We knew this was a big deal, as it meant that Mike Pence (or at least his office) was throwing Donald Trump under the impeachment bus. Sure enough, Trump appeared to finally get word this afternoon about Williams testimony, and he launched a particularly berserk attack on her.

Trump posted this tweet in response to the testimony: “Tell Jennifer Williams, whoever that is, to read BOTH transcripts of the presidential calls, & see the just released ststement from Ukraine. Then she should meet with the other Never Trumpers, who I don’t know & mostly never even heard of, & work out a better presidential attack!”

This is remarkable for a few reasons. First, Trump seems to think “ststement” is a word. More importantly, Williams listened in on the actual phone call and therefore doesn’t need to read a transcript. Also, there is no evidence that Williams is a “Never Trumper” and in fact she probably isn’t one, considering that she works for Trump’s vice president. In any case, the real upshot here is that Trump is publicly and viciously attacking one of Mike Pence’s people. Now we’ll see what, if anything, Pence says or does in response.
