Mike Pence basically tells Donald Trump it’s over
Donald Trump and his remaining supporters are now insisting that they can somehow magically overturn the election by having Mike Pence refuse to accept the election results in his role as President of the Senate. Here’s the thing, though: that would be literally impossible, because the process doesn’t actually work that way.
Now even Mike Pence is admitting that his role on January 6th is a mere formality and that he can’t just make the Electoral College results go away. In fact Pence has gone so far as to privately explain this to Donald Trump, and Pence is presumably the one who leaked this conversation to CNN in order to try to take the heat off himself.
If Trump supporters are getting their hopes up for January 6th at all, then they’re wasting their time. And if any Resistance members are fretting over January 6th, then they’re also wasting their time. It’s a complete non-issue. There is literally no path for Trump to magically overturn the election.
