The real reason GOP Senator Mike Lee went ballistic against Donald Trump today

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Republican Senator Mike Lee garnered significant attention today when he walked out of an Iran briefing, and then proceeded to spend several minutes trashing the briefing, while the news cameras rolled. Lee was directly attacking the Trump regime’s unwillingness to tell him anything about why Donald Trump ordered the assassination of Iranian leader Soleimani.

This raised the question of why Mike Lee, usually a Trump ally, suddenly went ballistic against Trump today. Make no mistake, Lee was genuinely frustrated. This wasn’t some kind of calculated act. But briefers have never been able to properly explain to Congress why Donald Trump has given any of his incoherent orders. Today’s briefing debacle wasn’t anything new. So what set Lee off?

Think about what happened hours before that briefing. Donald Trump stepped in front of the cameras, and delivered a speech in which he sounded mostly senile and mostly dead. Something is incredibly wrong with this guy, and whatever it is, it’s now getting worse by the hour. Imagine being a Republican Senator like Mike Lee, and watching a visibly senile Trump on television today, realizing you’re supposed to be defending that guy, and then being fed a briefing that was of no help either.

Mike Lee and Rand Paul are now vowing to support Democratic legislation that would curtail Donald Trump’s war powers. Such legislation would only need four Senate Republican votes to pass. That’s how quickly things are falling apart right now. The Republicans are afraid that a quickly deteriorating Trump is going to take them down with him – and they’re in a panic over it.
