Donald Trump has been having quite a strange few days. First he met with most of his family at Camp David to try to formulate a response to his worsening criminal scandals. Then he began talking publicly about pardoning himself. Then he tipped off that a Paul Manafort bombshell was about to surface, which ended up raising questions about how he knew about Manafort’s witness tampering in advance. By Monday night, he seemed more frantic than ever – and he clearly couldn’t sleep.

Trump had already spent Monday evening posting a series of bizarre rants that ranged from his worsening campaign spy hallucination to a surreal bender about Nixon and Watergate. He’s not usually still awake that late into the evening, as most reports say that he’s typically in bed by 6:30pm eastern time, watching Fox News until he passes out. But by midnight eastern time he was still wide awake, and began ranting once again.

Here’s what Trump posted at 12:02 AM – “Mitch McConnell announced he will cancel the Senate’s August Recess. Great, maybe the Democrats will finally get something done other than their acceptance of High Crime and High Taxes. We need Border Security!” Uh, no, that’s not why McConnell canceled recess. He did it because he’s afraid the Democrats are going to take the majority in the Senate in the November elections, due to Trump’s extreme unpopularity.

At this point it appears Donald Trump really did pass out, as he hasn’t tweeted anything in the hours since. This capped a day in which he had ranted about everything from “corrupt FBI lovers” to “Crooked Hillary and Slippery James Comey” to “The greatest Witch Hunt in political history,” it’s clear that Trump’s ongoing mental breakdown is worsening and accelerating. He also threw a party for no one and then revealed he didn’t know the lyrics to patriotic songs. Banner day all around.
