Michael Avenatti fires back at Michael Cohen’s whacked out last-ditch desperation move
Michael Cohen is now just hours away from judgement day, as he’s facing an evidence deadline that could result in his arrest if he fails to comply. Even if he does comply, he might still be arrested today if he fails to reach a plea deal. Cohen is under intense pressure, and tonight he made a bonkers desperation move aimed squarely at Stormy Daniels’ attorney Michael Avenatti. Suffice it to say that Avenatti isn’t having any of it.
Cohen, who is reportedly in the midst of splitting with his entire legal team, filed for a restraining order which would prevent Michael Avenatti from being able to publicly discuss him. Where’s this going? Nowhere. We’re not sure if Cohen is taking one last swing at trying to tilt the odds in his favor, or what might be going through his mind. Avenatti has a few thoughts on the matter.
Avenatti posted this to Twitter just after Cohen filed his motion: “We just learned that Mr. Cohen and his atty, Brent Blakely, are going to file a motion seeking to have the court issue a gag order preventing me & others from providing info & docs to the media and the public. They want it all hidden. Is this ok? Will the media permit it? The motion for a gag order is a complete joke and baseless. Mr. Cohen and Brent Blakely can’t deal with the truth, the facts, and the law, so they have to resort to unethical, meritless motions. This must be their birthday present to Mr. Trump.”
Michael Cohen can file all the motions he wants, but he’s still facing today’s evidence deadline and his imminent arrest. He appears to be wasting his final precious moments of freedom on this kind of nonsense – and the night is still young.
