Merrick Garland just confirmed it

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

Given that the DOJ has had a January 6th grand jury targeting Trump world for several months, it’s clear that the DOJ is looking to bring criminal charges in Trump’s election overthrow plot. Given that the DOJ has already asked the January 6th Committee for the transcripts of its closed door witness testimony, it’s also clear that the DOJ wants to use the committee’s findings to bolster its own.

So it’s no surprise that when Attorney General Merrick Garland was asked today if he’s watching the January 6th public hearings, he confirmed that he is – and he made a point of spelling out that the DOJ prosecutors in charge of the January 6th probe are also watching.

It’s a timely reminder that while he’s overseeing it as Attorney General, Garland isn’t personally running the January 6th probe into Trump world. Months ago he put an esteemed career prosecutor in charge of the probe, who’s presumably making the day to day decisions in the probe.

Again, none of this is new. But if nothing else, Garland’s answer today shoots down the silly defeatist narrative that Garland and his DOJ are somehow uninterested in the January 6th Committee’s findings, or uninterested in investigating Donald Trump and his people for their crimes.
