Merrick Garland is the right guy for this

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

I like Merrick Garland. I’ve said this before and received quite a bit of push-back from fellow Democrats. That’s fine. We are all united by our passion for making this country a better place and our political philosophy. We can agree to disagree on some things.

Allow me to explain just WHY I like Garland. Garland has done so much already. I know many have lost faith in him. I know many think he is too cautious. Look how quickly he moved on the Texas abortion law.

Look how he has moved against the terrorizing of parents and teachers by MAGA school board members. And now look at what has come out about the cooperation of some of the insurrectionists in Rolling Stone magazine. This shows Garland’s commitment to justice. But let us put aside ALL of those things. The biggest reason I trust Garland is two words: Joe Biden.

President Biden is a good man. I think we can all agree on that. So, it would stand to reason Biden would want to surround himself with good people. I do not believe that our President would EVER let anyone aligned with Trump stay in their job.

This is not cult-speak. I do not put Biden on a pedestal. He is human, as we all are. And like all humans, Biden has and will make mistakes. We all do. But one thing that I do not believe is in question is his patriotism. And his love for our country.

President Biden is a fierce advocate for justice, so it stands to reason he would want the people working for him to be the same. If, in fact, any of those people were to stray, I do not doubt President Biden would fire them — and he’d do it quickly.

So, yes, I trust our Justice Department. This does not mean I do not get frustrated myself, nor does it mean I do not get impatient. We were ALL in an abusive relationship with a sociopath for years. We are all angry, and we want consequences. But I do trust our President. And I do think that though lady justice often moves slowly, for us, it will move forward, and the day we see the results will be that much sweeter.
