Merrick Garland calls Donald Trump’s bluff, decides to publicly release Mar-a-Lago search warrant

Dear Palmer Report readers, we all understand the difficult era we're heading into. Major media outlets are caving to Trump already. Even the internet itself and publishing platforms may be at risk. But Palmer Report is nonetheless going to lead the fight. We're funding our 2025 operating expenses now, so we can keep publishing no matter what happens. I'm asking you to contribute if you can, because the stakes are just so high. You can donate here.

It’s been three days since the DOJ had the FBI carry out a search and seizure warrant at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, which resulted in the seizure of dozens of boxes of highly classified documents that Trump had stolen. Trump keeps claiming he’s a victim, but he’s refused to publicly release his copy of the search warrant.

So now Merrick Garland has announced to the TV cameras that the DOJ has just asked the courts to unseal the warrant, which will result in its release to the media and the public. We suspect the DOJ and the judge presiding over the case will make significant redactions to the document, both to protect the nature of the classified documents in question, and to protect any confidential sources who are cited in the warrant.

If Trump thought that the public release of the warrant could help his cause in any way, he’d have already released it by now. This tells us that whatever is in that warrant only helps to demonstrate what a crook he is. Garland’s decision to make the warrant public is probably the last thing Trump wanted. It seems Garland knows what he’s doing. He didn’t say much today, but he’s going to let the search warrant do the talking.
